About Me
Hi, I’m Josh.
If you want to learn more about my professional experience see LinkedIn.
I’m not active on other social media, with the limited exception of Goodreads.
I’m the founder and CEO of Zigg Talent.
I was born in 1985 and grew up in Monona, a not especially charming suburb of Madison.
My mom (retired) was a preschool teacher, and my dad (dead) was an HR manager at a mid-sized thermoforming company.
I attended Wingra School (K-8) and Monona Grove HS (9-12). I wasn’t a very good student in primary school. I rarely did the assignments, and tended to zone out when I got bored with whatever the teacher was talking about. I blame this on my teachers for often talking about and assigning boring things.
I went to the U.W. Madison, and completed my B.A. in Philosophy in 2006, advised by Claudia Card. I got my M.A. at N.Y.U. (advised by David Velleman), and another from the University of Minnesota (advised by Valerie Tiberius).
I was (and am) interested in how people figure out what to think and do. That is a very broad topic, which cuts across metaethics, political philosophy and moral psychology. It’s also, of course, a major part of the study of economics, history, epistemology, psychology, and pretty much everything else.
In some ways my studies lacked focus.
After school I spent ~13 years leading recruiting for startups such as Floored, Hightower, Formswift, and Chapter. I lived primarily in New York for most of that time, with a few years in San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua. I’ve been traveling a great deal over the past few years but now spend most of my time in Mexico City.
My posts on this site reflect my own views not those of Zigg Talent, it’s clients, employees, or partners.
